Located in Limburg, Zuyderland Hospital is the result of the merger between Atrium Medical Center Parkstad and Orbis Medical and Care Concern Sittard-Geleen. This merger marked the beginning of a significant transformation process aimed at strengthening healthcare in the region. The client prioritizes knowledge transfer and invests in specialization, modern medical equipment, and innovative healthcare solutions.
Challenges Faced
The client boasts numerous consultation and examination rooms, with different specialists occupying them each day. Initially, traditional name tags were used to indicate the allocated room for each visitor. However, the frequent changes in specialists made it challenging to keep these tags updated, leading to confusion and inefficiency in navigation.
Seeking a more efficient and dynamic solution, the client aimed to implement touchscreen kiosks seamlessly integrated into the existing building structure without the need for drilling or extensive wiring. That's where we as Touchscreen consultants stepped in.
Solution Implemented
To address Zcleint's needs, we proposed a sustainable signage solution using wireless e-ink displays with a content management system (CMS). Each room now features its own display, powered by long-lasting batteries and mounted outside the rooms without the need for electrical connections or cables. The CMS allows for real-time updates to be made to the information displayed on the screens from any location, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, a digital floor plan within the system helps administrators identify and update information for each display effortlessly.
Results Achieved
The implementation of e-ink displays has significantly improved visitor navigation within the client premises. The sleek design of the screens captures visitors' attention without overwhelming them, and the ability to update information in real-time ensures accuracy, even with changing specialists. Moreover, the use of local WiFi networks eliminates the need for unsightly cables, preserving the integrity of the building's structure. By using magnetic mounts, the installation process was non-intrusive and left no permanent damage to the walls.
